VB911 telecommunicators receive residents' calls for service by Police, Fire, and EMS personnel and coordinate those agencies' response.
Calling "911" is specifically used for emergency situations, such as crimes in progress and active threats to life or property where an immediate response is required from public safety personnel.

VB911 telecommunicators handle nonemergency calls. Call 757-385-5000 for public safety assistance that is not an emergency.
The nonemergency line should be used by anyone outside city limits, including out-of-state family members or friends, who need to reach Virginia Beach emergency services on behalf of someone within city limits.
